Thanksgiving
- for 8, 12, or 16 guests
This
very traditional Thanksgiving menu for 16 includes all of
the favorites such as a golden brown turkey stuffed with homemade
onion and sage dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberry
sauce, three different vegetables options and Pumpkin pie.
If this is your first effort at roasting a turkey and making
gravy, no need to worry about how it will all turn out. We
walk you through every step of stuffing the bird, making mashed
potatoes and how to make fail-safe gravy. We even build in
a little time for you to rest and get dressed before your
guests arrive. This plan was tested and proven a success by
someone who had never served a sit down dinner for 17, or
made mashed potatoes and gravy.
Holiday
Buffet for up to 25 people
Have
you ever been to a holiday party that was catered and envied
the host because they could afford to put on such a spread?
This holiday buffet is just your ticket to providing a buffet
dinner for 25 that will impress your friends, family or office
and keep the expense to a minimum. The menu includes shrimp
cocktail, baked brie and Crab Delight hors-'d oeuvres followed
by prime rib roast and turkey breast, scalloped potatoes,
cucumber salad and traditional Ambrosia. For dessert, we suggest
that you ask your guests to bring holiday cookies or you can
purchase holiday cakes or pies in order maximize your time.
Christmas
Dinner - for 8, 12, or 16 guests
What
fond memories we all have of Christmases gone by with the
squeal of delight as the kids opened their gifts and played
the new games in front of the fire while the adults enjoyed
the scene with a hot-toddy. There is something so comforting
and special about Christmas Day with the roast in the oven
and the family gathered around the tree. It calls for a special
menu that celebrates the season and we provide you with just
that. This menu is easily expanded if your family is larger
than 8. Liver pate and a Cream Cheese with green olive spread
served with crackers as hors-'d oeuvres get the celebration
off to a tasty start. Homemade cream of mushroom soup is the
first course, followed by a prime rib roast, Yorkshire pudding,
mashed potatoes and gravy and a creamy Caesar salad. A cream
cheese pie filling in a meringue crust, topped with cherries
is the perfect dessert for this lovely holiday meal.
As
with all our events, we start a week out from the holiday
and walk you through everything you'll need to do to get your
dinner on the table at the time of your choice. Never made
Yorkshire pudding or a cream soup? We'll get you there! We'll
provide you with the shopping list, detailed cooking instructions
for each of the recipes and a timetable that is sometimes
minute-to-minute. We even include some unusual but easy decoration
ideas for your table. Take the stress out of Christmas day
this year and let us do the thinking for you!
Valentine's
Day
Valentine's
Day falls during the week more often than weekends and that
makes it more difficult to put on a special dinner for that
someone special in your life. Most of us don't have all day,
like we do on weekends, to spend in preparation of a special
meal. We've picked a menu that is easy to prepare but not
ordinary. If you have children, we even give you some suggestion
for keeping the kids out of your hair before and during the
dinner with your Valentine. Start your evening with a cocktail
or glass of wine and a little duck pate. Follow your hors-'d
oeuvres with a roasted rack of lamb with rosemary and mustard
crumb topping, twice baked potatoes and a crisp salad with
pine nuts and crumbled blue cheese. For dessert, serve Aunt
Myrnie's' Cutout cookies that you made the weekend before
or make the Meringue Cherry Pie featured in the Christmas
menu but made into the shape of a heart.
We've
put together a plan that will let you do much of the preparation
the week before and calls for only a 2-hour lead-time on Valentine
Day. Easy recipes and preparation are included in this plan
but your Honey will feel very special!
Special
Dinner Party for 8
We
really enjoy having friends over for an evening of dining
and conversation and love to serve different entrée's
and recipes that make them wonder what will be coming next.
This dinner party for 8 is very elegant but very easy to make.
Simple appetizers of stuffed celery and nuts with a nice glass
of wine start off the evening. The main course of fresh shrimp
in a Hollandaise Sauce is served over rice and accompanied
by a wonderful spinach salad with a curry dressing and garlic
bread. Top off the dinner with mounds of whipped cream and
white chocolate in a meringue crust and good cup off coffee
and your guests will be wondering how soon they'll be invited
again.
This
event plan gives you the quickest and easiest recipe for Hollandaise
sauce that you can ever imagine! Much of this preparation
can be done days before or the morning of the party so you
can spend time with your guests. As usual, the timetable and
shopping list take the guesswork and stress out of the preparations.
This plan is easily adaptable for a party of 4 or 12.
DinnerOnTime Membership Website:
Sample Menus - DinnerOnTime provides four sample menus for
4 on the website so you can see what is in store for you if
you sign up for the membership or purchase either book. Menus
are designed to make your dinner preparation easier and show
you the type of excellent planning you can expect from us.
Menus, recipes with clear cooking instructions plus the shopping
list and a detailed preparation timetable is all part of the
package! Because most people we know don't eat fancy desserts
every night of the week, we don't include them in weekly menus.
You may want to keep ice cream or cookies on hand to take
care of a sweet tooth that surface during the week.
Sample
Tips - You'll view several cooking and entertaining sample
tips that will give you an idea of the tidbits that are imbedded
in the DinnerOnTime menus and Tip Library! The website contains
fourteen separate sections that offer great suggestions for
saving time, money and stress. Just look up your trouble area
specific to: Helpful Hints, Meat, Fix-It, Appetizers, Eggs,
Weights and Measurements, Herbs and Spices, Veggies, Fruits,
Desserts, Gifts, Shopping, Entertaining, and Food Safety.
Weekly
Menus - Weekly menus contain 6 complete dinners with individual
shopping list and timeline AND one shopping list that combines
all the food needed to prepare all 6 dinners. Just add your
staples such as milk, eggs and butter, along with breakfast
and lunch needs and you are set to zip off to the store. Some
menus build on one another.
- Weeks
Two: Mustard Chipotle Rubbed Flank Steak, Eggplant Parmesan,
Asian Pork Tenderloin, Grilled Soy Salmon, Pork Sandwiches
with Arugala and Tomatoes (made with leftover pork from
earlier in the week) and Chicken Picata offer a variety
of meats and meatless dinners. Easy sides of Caesar potato
salad, grilled veggies, baked tomatoes and unique but easy
salads round out the week. These meals are great for kids
as well, as it expands their food experience but can be
tempered to their taste buds. Add less Chipotle pepper to
their grilled pork chop (week one) or the Chipotle Rubbed
Flank Steak in this week's menu.
- Week
Four: Left over Sun Dried Tomato Pasta from Monday night
becomes the side dish for Thursday night's Spicy Spareribs.
Again, you can add as much or little heat as you like to
the very quick BBQ sauce for the ribs. Hearty Roast Beef
Sandwiches are a nice easy change from the traditional roast
with all the trimmings. An easy Grilled Trout, Rack of Lamb
and Chicken Breast with Tomato and Capers over pasta give
a nice variety to the week. Cucumber Salad, Peppered Corn,
Green Salad with a bit of pizzazz in the form of walnuts
and bleu cheese, and Sautéed Spinach with Ginger
are easy but different accompaniments to the main courses.
Wild rice and Onion/Mushroom risotto are a nice change from
over-worked potatoes.
